I have an 87 extended cab(2.9 V6) that needs a new tranny. When I search for a replacement, I find that there was a 1/4" & a 3/8" transmission line version.

What is the difference between the versions? Can I swap to a different one(locating one isn't the easiest thing to do).

I looked at the Identification page & can't find any info about why there were 2 line sizes.

Also, I have another 87 with a 2.0/5 speed that was rear-ended. Would the 5 speed mate to the 2.9? Would the drive shaft work?

Any help grealt appriciated. Thanx
