Hey guys, ive been working out all the little kinks in my 302 swap for awhile now and seem to be stuck on this one.

2 Problems: 1) I have a ZF behind it and when ever I shift into 3 and it is at a real low rpm i get a bad hiccup and studder. Im thinking this could be a timing or carb problem maybe? I have a 600 holley vaccume secondary on it.

2) It will run and idle for as long as it has gas in it, but after about 4 or 5 minutes of driving there is a total loss of power and eventually will die.

I bought the block from a guy that had already put a mild cam, forged pistons, and new timing cover and chain. The heads that came with it are stock e6's and im kind of wondering about those.

Any help is appreciated!

sounds like you might have a problem somewhere in your ignition system

Run it again, but when it dies, remove the air cleaner and work the throttle while looking into the carb bores. If there's no gas squirting from the accellerator pump nozzles as you work the throttle, there's your problem, it's out of gas. Could be the floats set too low or the fuel pump not keeping up, or a clogged fuel filter. Oh, and that big ugly distributor's no help either :D The E6 heads ? they're just limiting your topend horsepower.

at this point Cheap and Effictive > Pretty :) I took it to a guy that works on race cars to tune the carb for me so hopefully that will fix it or narrow down the problem. Ill update

I do not understand what you are trying to say,,,, the only time it stutters in in 3rd, low rpm, AND heavy throttle?????????

or all the time at low rpm????? and under load??? part throttle,,, full throttle???

As stated above check for fuel,,, and check float levels,,, ignition timing,,
