Sounds like my first engine...ran low on oil one night and tried to drive it home...had to keep stopping to fill the oil but it made it...but that was it's last long drive as it simply would not run right after that...wasn't a total meltdown like yours but it was close.

So it's decision time...and hopefully you have the resources to move forward with the Ranger...you know how to swap the engine...finding a replacement shouldn't be a problem...mustangs or other Rangers...2.3, 2.5 will work for you...maybe a bit of praying might help too...

The main thing is to stay positive...you can do this...

well for some reason, i went to go pull my engine today and see whats making so much noise. fire it up. purrs. purrs like a kitten! no knocks, ticks rattles. nothing. so i drained the oil, dirty way dirty. so i permatexed the pan where it was leaking (bolt hole) and put some cheap oil in it, ran it for about 10-15 minutes, drained it, put my new oil in it. drove her home! so positive day today!! now, hate to do it..... but i gotta sell her
