I bought an 86 with a 2.9 last night and noticed that at idle the tach is on 0, when i take of and lay into it it only goes up to about 2500. So something is messed up but not completely unhooked. Any suggestions what could be wrong???
Thanks

Check your wires beef. I just installed one in my truck. You should look at were the tach wire goes into the engine bay. And check the ground.

Btw is it a stock tach or aftermarket

There's a wire that goes to the coil. Mines green. But mines not stock.
You might want to try posting this up in the electrical and gauges section. There's prolly some peeps with more knowledge than I.
