My 86 ranger 4x4 with 32 inch tires has been getting 8-10mpg street and 12-14 highway mpg. Is this normal. What could i check to correct this?

the 32's aren't helping....depending on the pumpkin ratios. but no, not normal.

the ususal list of suspects
O2 sensor
MAP sensor
temp senor...etc

best to run codes and see what is there...
when was the last time you tuned it up?

Well its been maybe 10 or 15k or so. But ive had the truck for 8 years and its always been like that. Its always had a high idle around 1100 or so and has a newer o2 sensor in it

Ok then: standard questions 1 what color is the inside of the exhaust pipe?

2 is the black light and fluffy or does it act like black paint

3 How fast do you drive, and how fast does it take you to get to highway speed?

4 which trans?

if it is running rich then that is one set of problems, if you drive like a possessed teenager you have another set.
