86 Ranger RV Ford Sportsman!

i've never seen one either...but part of me wants to buy it,another part wants to burn it.

it's pretty much usless for anything but going camping, but if i was going to have a dedicated camper/rv i would want something bigger with more power.can't see doing a long highway trip with that.

i cant look away! its so strange... im kinda impressed, but kinda puzzled...

I want to live in it.

ANNNYWAYY. Probably a one-off custom conversion, like the G-20 Starliner van, or any other camper/RV/van type thingy.

Thats what I thought too, but there is ford branding on the camper section. Maybe dealer sold conversion like the choo-choo chevys?

Wow, I saw a couple of these way back in the 80's!!! I went inside one when I was out in San Diego. I really thought it was neat. I did not get to ride in it and the owner was a guy in his early 50's. He and his wife were going to Texas for a week. The owner said it was not top heavy (it looks like it might be). He said it was great for parking in smaller places and he said the V6 was great on power...but I wondered about that. I don't think I would want to travel on real steep upgrades....lol

If it is in really great shape...$3,000 is a good price. I could live in it if I had to!!! I know it is a rare find!!!

Just because it's called the "Ford Sportsman"? That doesn't count as branding. When I start seeing FoMoCo or Motorcraft seals on camper section parts then I'll believe it's not an aftermarket conversion.

I used to work at a dealer that sold a LOT of Roush and LA West vehicle. There is that kind of "Ford branding" all over those things. It wasn't there from the factory.

I didnt think it was a factory conversion, just that it was sold through dealers. I did a lil more research and found out the camper is made by mirage conversions and is nearly identical to the one mounted on toyotas of the same time period. But the fact that it is a 4x4 is extremely rare.

heres a toyota version

Throw full size one tons, a 5.0 L and 37 MTR's and that thing would be MINT.
