my truck needs a new slave cylinder but there is two different types of internal slave cylinders. which one do i need or how do i figure out which one it needs without taking apart my transmission?

Look to see where the clutch line goes. One slave goes into the side of the bell housing and has the slip connection that is 'easier' to get to for line removal and bleeding.

Some older FM145s have the clutch line that goes into the top of the bell housing and uses a strong pin and O ring connection.

Look at the pictures when you go to order or follow the application chart for your trans.

One also is bolted in front of the bell housing and the other is behind the bell housing as in the FM 145 I am currently working on.

Good luck

Well, to replace your slave cylinder, you are going to have to remove the trans. Once you get your trans out, remove the two 10mm bolts on the "inside" of the trans to remove the slave. Once you get your slave out, take it to a parts store and compare. I have seen some slave cylinders come with the throwout bearing already installed on them, and some others that did not. Hence the different part numbers.

Do the clutch while you are in there. It's worth it to not have to do the job twice.

thats why im doing the slave is because my clutch is slipping really bad so im replacing it. but i think the slave cylinder leaks because it gets low on fluid but i cant find where it is leaking. the fluid seems to just disapear and does anyone know where i can get a slave cylinder cheaper then 100 bucks at autozone?
