Is it possible to to just pull the pump and plug the holes for the p/s lines and still be able to use the box or would i need a new box as well?

Oh by the way i've always hated the power steering in my truck and ive wanted to remove it for awhile

You would need to get a manual steering box as well.

FWIW, you might hate your power steering, but the manual steering on the Rangers was less reliable than the power setup.

I want to do the same thing and was wondering if the p/s box could be used. I do have a manual box on my Ranger currently but when I swap engines the power steering is coming out.

I tried measuring them up to see if the boxes were the same length and the shafts were the same but there was too much stuff in the way to get a good measure...I know the mounting bolts are pretty much in the same place from the firewall for both the 96 and 88...so any box from those years should swap right in.

I found three perfect donors yesterday :-( 2 had l/s rear ends and 1 had the whole engine setup i wanted, it was a 4 plug like 88 i think with manual steering but i had no money :-(
