86 gen 1 sas build

Update time! I found a place in rio rancho, NM. I love the new place. I got a light wheeling area 2 blocks away with tons of trails. I got the ranger plated and street legal! (Couldn't do that in Illinois) pics soon! I can't wait to start wheeling with some rangers and not a ton of jeeps. Sucks but time to show jeep country how the mid west wheels!

Sweet!!!

If you head to the end of southern, there is tons of stuff out there

Yeah I heard people are calling it a mini Moab. I just ordered a new brake caliper for the truck so I should be able to do it next weekend if u are available to go grunizzle.

Pics from the other day behind my house. Not much but fun. And the boy was in a car seat, not free to roam.

I wish I could! I should be getting my transmission back this week so I'm going to use the weekend to put that back in. Then I still need to work a few bugs from the engine swap. Realistically I probably wont be able to wheel it until New Years-ish time frame. But I'm totally game to go wheel with you when I get my shit together!

Getting him started early I see! My three year old son loves it too.

If u need a hand lemme know. I live for this stuff!

I started this build to be a toy/dd but now i am trying to make it capable of a week long wheeling trip being self sustained. So new a direction but stay on the trails longer.
Anyways.....
Went to Walmart and couldn't stop myself. Safari rack for a 100 bucks and a cheap cb. Now to figure out how to mount the rack. It's supposed to mount to the existing cross bars. I'll probably just u bolt it to the cab and seal the holes. Weld tabs for lights and wire it all. It wont ever hold a lot of weight so it should be fine. I also started a dual batt set up and a stronger alternator and started rounding up parts for onboard air. The snow will be here soon and I can't wait to go play!

couldnt make that street legal in ill?

i have had problems with my truck in pa and ga....but nothing serious in ill....and mine is far and away uglier then yours.

Il said I had to much tire sticking out. I needed huge fender flairs and they told me the lift wasn't allowed because the frame wasn't to state code. My buddies sister was a state cop and she told me not to try it would be a ticket magnet.
I moved here and no issues.

yeah, if your getting issues it can be tough to make things right.

not sure of the frame code thing there, i would have to study the laws to see the way thru, but moving to a more reasonable place is the best way....

i widened my fenders to a point, but the reality is ineffectual to thier ideal.

regardless almost all of my windshield issues came from "street legal" vehicles, and the stats proved it out and they quit bugging me with minimal alterations to my vehicle.

i am jealous of your wheeling location...i have been there wheeling a few times since the 80's along with moab/rubicon/hammers trips and its awesome out there.

Ok..... Took the ranger out for a drive today in 2x. Couldn't get it going over 35 mph. I didn't do my research and now the engine is screaming to go 35. What gear ratio would you guys suggest for me?
I pulled out the stock axles with 3.73s and now I'm running 33" tires with a 4.10
I love the torque it has now but I can't take it anywhere without trailering it. All I want is 55 mph.
