Hey everyone. I've been watching this page lots, and using the tech pages for lots of my build. so i figured i should say hi, and show what ive done...
it originally started out as a 1986 bronco 2 that had 3 tires because one of the wheel bearings let go and ruined the spindle. so the kid sold it for $300 because new parts were hard to find and not worth fixing
started out as a
1986 bronco 2 xlt
air con, tilt, cruise,
2.9 efi, 4 speed auto, and electronic shift tcase
so i had a set of jeep xj axles, and lift kit parts laying around, so became the original driveline swap. it got a dana 30 front, and dana 35 rear, with the stock driveline
then i also had a set of 37" iroks off my wrangler. so of course they had to go on, along with 8" xj coils and leaf springs. so at this point, lift springs, dana 30 front, 35 rear, 3.55 gears, stock 2.9, auto, and electronic shift tcase. it was gutless, but did what it had to.
but sadly, during the build, i found out the body was completely rotten, and the axles were too small for anything. so more upgrades happened.
did a dove nose, cab chop, hp d44 front axle, and dana 60 rear outta a 79 f250, locked front diff, welded rear. still with stock powertrain
The bronco beside my old wheeling toy. jeep was a 3.6 6 speed standard with rubicon 44 front and rear, elockers, 4.88 gears, and 39.5x15.5x17 tires. here was it going back to stock to sell
so another year of wheeling goes by, and the body gets worse, and worse, and twisting, and just terrible. the 2.9 wasn't cutting it, the automatic was dropping gears. so it was time for more upgrades
here comes a 1984 ranger cab that survived a forrest fire (hence the melted parts), with tubing rocker panels, raised floor boards, shortened box, 5.0l efi out of a 1987 crown vic, t18 and 205 out of the 79 f250. and probably my most favorite phase, and most practical phase
and heres where the problems started. snapped a axle in the d44, the 5.0 was great, but the t18 was sloppy and wore out and hard to fix and keep gears. i got wind of a cheap 5.8 f250 so said hey... you know whats bigger than 5.0l? a 5.8. and so comes the next phase of the bronco,
1995 5.8, zf5 manual trans, twin stick 205. and kept the broken d44. cause who needs axles when you have more power. and my biggest regret, the hood scoop. but due to it being a junkyard budget build, and the tall intake of the 5.8, it doesnt fit, so some modding was happening. trying to find another stock hood to try again
and that brings us to where we are today, yet more upgrades. the 5.8 and zf5 are so great offroad, and awesome torque, that my last front axle shaft finally decided to blow up, and leave it rwd only.
so that bring us to.... super duty d60 front diff, and sterling 10.5 rear
the fronts sitting on weight, but still doing track bar and steering. the rear is next. then back to the trails it goes.
love it or hate it. thank you for reading through my post, and having a basic following of my journey with this thing.
i have many regrets of what id rather do. but ive learned so much, and gained much skill building and researching, trying, failing, and succeeding
and yes, i still daily this thing when its actually running
