Just bought a 1985 Ranger long bed 4x4! Needs a lot of work! Looks like somebody disconnected all the emissions stuff; air pump, charcoal canister misc. vacuum lines ect...The Alternator is going out. Wonder if the voltage regulator is on the alternator or not? If not where is it located? Can somebody help me out with this one?

The one from my old cavalier was incased within the alternator itself. Had to replace the whole unit, unfortunately. Best of Luck

The 85 should be on the driver side fender.

+1

But my truck has been converted to '86+ internally regulated alternator by a PO so anything is possible.

Parts guys cringe when they hear my truck mentioned... :icon_twisted:
