Hi, sorry if this has been asked before or if anyone here is on other Ford forums and have seen this, but I cannot find answers anywhere, I have a 1985 Ford Bronco II and I need the stock motocraft carburetor replaced, I rebuilt it this summer and noticed there is a whole in the side of it, so I patched it with some JBWeld and called it good until I got enough money for a new Carb as it is not running at its "max". I am looking at a Holley 350 CFM Street Avenger Carburetor or any other reliable direct fit carburetor for the stock 2.8L V6 engine, would the Holley fit the stock engine? Is it reliable? What carbs are you guys using on your rigs? I would like to buy a reliable carb that you can put on there without any modifications, preferably new. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

The 1985 2.8l will have a "feedback" carb, which tells the Computer how to control spark timing(TFI module).

It will be best to convert to a Duraspark distributor(vacuum advance) and an HEI ignition module.
Then change the carb to a non-feedback carb.
Good read here on Duraspark conversion, especially if you have an automatic trans: http://www.broncoiicorral.com/library/2_8_Duraspark.shtml
With clutch lockup

This is the HEI module wiring with Duraspark distributor: http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/ign...y-trick-hei-module-inside-duraspark-case.html

HEI modules can be purchased new for under $25, you do need to mount them to a plate for heat dissipation, but it doesn't need to be in a Duraspark case, above is just an example of what can be done.

I have a 5 speed manual trany, is there any carb out there that I could just replace the factory one? like without having to change the distributor, like one that is or does function as the factory carb? Thanks for your feedback

This company has a listing for 1985 2.8l Manual trans Feedback carb: http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/cat-fordtruck.html

The feedback carbs were short lived because they often didn't "stay in tune" very long, so MPG and performance slowly got worse and worse.
And there were few user adjustable parts on them so you were stuck with it.
Regular carb and vacuum advance distributor are user adjustable so you can do "tuneups" as part of regular maintenance.

Okay, that makes sense, I guess I'll look into getting some of this stuff, Thanks for you help
