So the other I broke the temperature sending unit boot off of the screw. After that my truck started running pretty rough so I figurred out it was that boot, cut the boot off and went ahead and put a new sender in it and just rigged an electrical eye loop onto the screw and put a nut over it. So my truck stopped running funny but now it won't start after it runs for bout 10 mins, it doesn't stall(not that I can find) but it doesn't start back up until it cools down if I shut it off, turns over but won't fire. I've checked the TFI to see if it's melted and it seemed in a solid condition. So I ran some codes and I'm getting 51-CM 68-O and 83 and 87 which have been there since I've had the truck. I've been testing the ECT and the sender and the ECT seems to be on point with it's voltage at around 1.62v which would mean it's at about 130 degrees which seems right. The sender on the other hand, I'm not sure about, it jumps from no voltage to 6.3ish and anywhere in between rapidly. Anyone got any ideas on what the hell is going on?

Update, for anyone else having similar problems, mine was the Engine Temp Sender (not sensor) that was giving funky voltage readings causing it to not start after warming up, starts fine with a new, non defective sender.

to add to the above. i had the same stopping problem and after doing almost having everything replaced i found out that the temp sending unit HAS TO BE METAL BASED... not the plastic one. spend the xtra $$$ and get the brass base one, it will change your life...$8.00 solution. it will work...:icon_thumby:
