Here is what I have planed (sort of), I am taking the engine/trans, all wiring, front suspension, rear axle, dash and seats from my 97 2.3 5 speed super cab ranger and transplanting it into my 84 (2.8 originally) auto standard cab long bed ranger.

Now here's the backstory. The 84 was converted to a 5.0/ AOD about 11 years ago. It ran great and I drove it every day for about 4 years. When gas got above $4 a gallon I decided to get something more economical to drive so I parked it in the barn. I sold the trans (AOD) out of it a few years ago and the brake line for the rear rusted in two. Three years ago I got the 97 and was driving it every day until about a little over a month ago some decided to sideswipe into the passenger side of it and totaled it.

So the real plan is to make a nice daily driver out of my 84 by transplanting as much of the 97 I can into it. I am also going to be doing a little customizing along the way like lowering it about 3" in front and 5" in rear, roll pan, fiberglass hood and a smooth front bumper.

The only thing that might be a challenge is that I am going to cut out the firewall from to 97 and put in the 84, just because it should make putting the 97 dash in the 84 a little easier. 97 had A/C 84 did not.

Does anybody see anymore hurtles that I would encounter from swapping all this stuff over? :icon_confused:

I am kind of hung up on the part where you pull out a 5.0 and replace it with a 2.3...

Yeah I know, not what I originally intended to do, but I need something a little more economical for right now. I plan on returning it to a 5.0 in about 2 or 3 years, after I buy one of the new Rangers when they come out in 2018 or 19. The 5.0 that is in the 84 right now will be going into my 1946 Ford pickup/street rod. I need to be able to save on gas to afford all my projects that I am working on. :icon_rofl:
