Does anyone know where I might get a new/used bellhousing for a 84 ranger, transmission is a Toyo Kogyo 4 speed tranny? Mine recently cracked where starter bolts up. It needs to be for a 4cyl engine. Or does anyone know if any other tranny will work?

Thanks

Might be a good idea to find out why it cracked as well. Are all your engine mounts in good shape?

Edit: I have been looking for an hour and cannot seem to locate a bell housing online that will replace yours. You may have to visit the local junkyards and see if they have a usable bell housing.

Are you running a 2WRWD?

dang, i had my blown 2.3 and bellhousing and good used tk4 trans all together with 78,000 miles on here 6 months ago. i ended up scraping it for like 20 bucks. wish u woulda came on here sooner. oh well. if you cant find one, pm me, i know a yard that might have one.

pictures please. how bad of a crack are we talking? normal surface crack or all the way through?

how did you crack it

I have the bellhouse but I'm not able to ship it. It went on a Toyo Kogo 4 speed tranny and bolted up to an 87 2.3 liter. I just went to a junkyard to get on and was charged $150 bucks for it. Anything 85 and newer has an internal slave cylider. The internal slave cylinder will not workk on an external without modification. I put an 85 internal clutch on my 83 that had an external and man was I in for a supprise. The external has a sleeve that covers the main shaft that the bearing rides on. The 85 and up doesn't. I cut the sleeve off and got the internal to work. And I got my stuff off the same type of tranny's too.

Hope this helps you out so that you dont run into the same problem that I did.

broke bell housing

Hey, thanks for all the reply's. I haven't started looking into why my bell housing broke. I know I was having trouble with my starter bolts vibrating loose and would have to tighten every couple of days. From initial look, I may have a broken motor mount as well. Once I find out what caused problem I'll let you know.

Thanks
