i have a 84 ranger 4x4 i am doing a 302 engine swap on and i also am swapping rear diff for newer ranger diff ,8.8 with 4.10 gears. two questions ,do i need to change the front diff to 4.10 and are these even available for the stock front diff and 2nd question , are 4.10 gears too low for 30inch tires and a built 302(306 roller cam) mated to a c4 ? it currently has 7.5inch with 3.45 gears ,

Um......Front gears DEFINITELY have to match the rear gears.

4.10 gears arn't too low in MY oppinion. you can find those for the front as well. Just don't put it in four wheel drive until the gears match. they will make quit the difference compaired to those 3.45's.

Without OD (C4), I'm thinking 3.55 gears would be better for 30" tires. 4.10 would be better with 33s.
