my 83 4x4 has a new motor and most everything else but when i try to go in 2 wheel drive or 4 hi it chokes down and dies i put it in 4 low and it gives me no problem i hope some one can tell me why oh its a 2.3 out of a mustang 2 same as the stock motor just has a 2bbl carb

May be the timing is off. I've got the same setup and have had the same problem. I have changed the timing and it has helped. I have other issues too,
but the timing seems to be a big help.

Sounds like a complete lack of power... Checking the timing I agree would be a good place to start. What gears and tires are you running? that might be your problem if you put large tires on and left the gears stock...

30in tires stock gears it was running fine with old motor with same setup

have any water in the fuel? I have that rearend whenever your ready for it
