83 Codes?

Yeah that one is your coolant temp sender... it is connected to the gauge. If it's overheating you have other problems to look at too.

I dont know yet if its overheating...
Its what i was trying to see...

Im flushing the radiator and changing oil today becuase i have time and havent got to it...

But it was giving to me with a horrible rusting color inside the radiator...

and im almost positive it was overheating i went around the block 1 time and it was scorching hot!

Checked the ect connector... volt meter read -0.06
I'm pretty sure that ain't good where should I start?

also the key was on the voltmeter was on volts and if its manual 20 volt scale and one end hooked to ground?

Whoops...
Ok key on and the green wired connector piece and then ground read 0.06

Now what? Remember I don't have a temp guage...

Now something I noticed... I have another tps I disconnected it and switched with another without putting is on the rod and it ran better?

Didn't smell rich or have that high of idle? And anytime I turned the 2 nobs in there it would start to die?

Ok you don't have a gauge? For a ECT you should have a 2 wire sensor somehwere near the t-stat housing.

Both of the ones for my guage and the computer were in my thermostat housing.

I think even if you don't have a guage you should have a sender for a dummy light... maybe not though.

My ECT was in the same port as my dash guage sender is in now, you can see it right below the crossover hose fitting that runs down to the back side of the timing cover/water pump. It is the greenish looking thing with a single red wire running to it. Mine is a late '85 with the single thermostat up above, so yours may be completely different.

83 2.8 Headache Please help!

Ok yesterday got codes off my odb
It said ECT and TPS out of range?

SO today i switched TPS and Made sure ECT was getting its 0.05v and it was....

I just rebuilt the carb and put back on sunday

today it like complete crap...
timing is on, new plugs, new wires

It started fine nice idle then about 5 seconds later it rev'd up really high
and stayed there... and i was like hmm ill try and drive it around....

Got back fire, sputter, and High RPM

so i rechecked timing and it was at 10 degrees...

And this clicking noise keeps happening from the drivers side near where the odb plugs in... something about vac switches...

its always clicking... and its concerning

Im so lost im tempted on either dumping it... or spending 200 on a proper diagnostic please help me before i do something i regret!
