As soon as I give it gas to change gears and it gets a load on the engine, it stalls everytime. It has no power, like it's not getting fuel and just dies. I know it's getting fuel because I can see fuel in my fuel filter pumping. Timing maybe? Spark plugs are brand new, IDK what it could be. This is the last hurdle before it is driveable again.

Sounds like a vac leak...or maybe timing advance...do you have a vac hose connected to the dizzy?

accelerater pump?

with motor off take off air cleaner, pump the throttle to see if if raw fuel is injecting into throttle bore.Should be a solid stream no spurts or burps and appear as soon as throttle is worked and be a solid stream to WOT.:icon_hornsup:

check fuel pressure. I don't know what carb you have but a weber is 5lbs and a holley is 7lbs.
it almost sounds like a lack of fuel volume. mine did the same thing when I used the cheap pressure reg. I had enough pressure but not enough volume to keep the bowl full.

My carb doesn't give solid streams...it drips...not sure what jets it has in it but it otherwise runs fine...but maybe that is a problem or just the nature of the 5200...

Sounds like the timing is not advancing to me.

Take off the distributor cap and suck on the vacuum line, you should see the internals move. Also check that port for vacuum, I've had a few that had the tube hooked to a port just fine, but had NO vacuum on that port.

I run my 2.3 without a hose going to the vacuum advance, it runs just fine just with the stock mechanical advance as long as the advance mechanism isn't stuck.

What carb r u runnin?

All I'v seen get a stream from the acc pump passages unless the diaphragm is shot or passage is clogged????:icon_confused:

Could be...can't honestly say that I've spent much time with my head over the carb and moving the accelerator...something about flames shooting out...

The carb has been in service for about 5 years without having been cleaned or rebuilt...maybe time for that...but I will check this out first...I know the jets are clear because it runs good...and it's got as much or more power than ever...thanks for the suggestion though...will have a look tomorrow...:icon_thumby:

I've always done it with the motor "OFF" but then I've always been different.:icon_idea:

LOL...yes, same here...but who knows what could happen.
