is there any 8.8 i can swap in directly because i dont have a welder or anything and i dont want to have to take it to somebody to weld can i swap a rangers 8.8 or something? i have a bronco 2

No, the Ranger spring perches are too far apart for a Bronco II's leaf springs. You still need to move the spring perches inward for a Ranger axle in a Bronco II.

You CAN force it, but it puts alot of load on the leaf springs. That's a bad thing. But yes, you have to move them inwards a bit for it to properly fit a BII.

Yea that and it puts a bad load on the spring bushings causing them to fail.

I need to replace the rear end in my Bronco 2. I have a 85 Ranger parts truck. I have done the search and read the posts. It looks like I will have to move the spring perches to use the ranger rear end. Is this straight foward to do?

anything else I will need to change?

Bronco has 4.10 gears and Ranger has 3.73 so will swap front at same time- have to take it out change front u joints.
Bronco has 2.9l and al4d 235r7515 tires. Will I notice much with the change in gears.

I do have another Bronco 2 just have to check the gears out on it.

Actually the spring perches are farther apart on the B2...

other than moving the spring pads on the ranger axle out a bit it there anything else,
Will it all work fine?

IF you've gotta move the spring perches (which requires welding)
you may as well go the extra step to putting in an explorer axle.

Well then I woould have to buy another axle- i have a scraped ranger and rear end is sitting on my bench- Cost $0. I think if I wanted Explorer parts Iwould jsut buy an Explorer and keep it the way it is. I want to use up parts on hand instead of throwing em away.
