I'd like to get an 8.8 from an explorer for my 94 4x4 but aren't they all undersprung? If so can I use my flip kit off of my old 91 to put the springs back on top?

Yes exploders are spring under. No you can't use a flip kit to install in your ranger. The springs are mounted at different widths. Rangers have outside the frame mounts and explorers are mounted under the frame. Not to mention pinion angles. Get some perches and have someone weld them on for you. Have them weld the center section to the tubes while they are there.

i disagree.

if you have stock shock mounts you will need to use two drivers side spring plates to make it all bolt on easily. depending on what flip kit you have you will have to put the short side forward to keep pinion close. use the ranger spring plates on top and use 9/16 or 5/8 bolts...this will require drilling the plates from the ranger and explorer.

i have done it many times in a pinch with bar stock and regular spring perches to make my own flip kit.. that method allows you to dial in the pinion angle perfectly. but welding perches is by far ideal. and was always done when it was possible.
