8.8 Swap for 1990 Ranger

I have a 1990 standard cab ranger with a dana 35 up front. I want to swap the 7.5 rear diff for the newer 8.8 with Disc brakes(1995 and up). I have read that some people were able to get by using the factory 1990 brake master cylinder. I do not want to chance it. Example: If I get a rear diff from a 1999 Explorer, will a disc brake master cylinder for a 1999 explorer fit my 1990 Ranger? This question may sound absurd to some: however I don't know the answer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Florida Ranger
