8.8 ranger axle? please help

i have a 94 ranger 4.0 5 speed that has an 8.8 open rear end and i was wondering if a limited slip set of spider gears would fit in my rear carrier to convert it to limited slip? the axle code is 92= 8.8 open with 3.08 ratio.

No, you cannot use LS parts in an open carrier, except maybe the spider gears (Not the side gears).

just the top and bottom gears is what you mean right? can i fit the limited slip spring in there too? and will that make the rear a limited slip

NO! The carriers are different. They are machined differently to accept both the side and spider gears as well as the clutch shims. You're stuck looking for a limited slip carrier if you want that.

but if you want a locker like a lock-right at some point they need an open carrier to work you gotta look at the specs for the locker to see if it needs an open carrier or replaces the whole thing, but they are right the l/s components dont fit in the open carrier. The l/s has clutch sets that get pressure from the torque and engage both wheels(atleast thats what is supposed to do haha) so there is alot more to it than just the spider gears and spring. Some people weld the spider gears as a "lincoln locker" but that is for mostly for offroad use only cause it can tear up tires.
