I am going to be doing an explorer 8.8 swap beginning of the new year, also new larger tires. I want to keep close to stock ratio with my bigger tires, where can I find out all the available gear ratios for the 8.8? The new tires have ended up between ratios I can find.

What size tire are you looking to run? What gearing do you have now and what have you looked at already?

2.73, 3.08, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, 5.71 and 6.14 are all available ratios for the 8.8.

Thanks
I have stock size 225/70/15 on right now with 3.73 gears on a manual 5spd if that makes any difference.
I want to bump it up to at least a 30 inch (works out almost to a 4.10) but I want 31's wihch splits the difference at 4.22 or there abouts. All depends on the available $$ and what I can find.
It has good city, highway, and decent towing with the 3.73 and I want to keep a reasonable ammount of that.

Is this the truck in your profile?

for 31's I'd go 4.30. Everyone says the 3.0L likes to run a little higher RPM. And that little gear change (4.22-4.30) won't make all that much of a difference.

Thanks I was leaning towards that.
It's the one in my profile
