8.8 disc upgrade ?

ok i have a 92 ford explorer and have done all the research but just have one ? i plan on puting disc on my truck but wanted to know if i need to swap the drum axle for the disc axle or are they the same

You'll need everything from the axle housing flange out, and the brake hoses. The axle shafts are the same.

Last I heard the disc backing plates w/ the parking shoes and hardware, was only like $45 a side from Ford. Better than piecing together rusted junk w/ bad shoes from the junkyard.

Also do yourself a favor while your there, put axle seals in your axle too. They are cheap and easy as hell to replace at this time, since the shafts are already out.

When I checked into it last year it was about $200 a side from Ford at my cost (I work there) So it can't be that cheap....or I would have done it by now...lol

doesnt northracecars make a bolt on swap for the 8.8? it puts cobra rear disks brakes on the otherwise drums. theres a member on here who has done the swap and hes had no problems with it. i hope he chimes in with some info.
