diff cover bolts for the 8.8 what size are they? standard or metric
mine are too long to fit with the new cover

Look on the head of the bolt....

Does it have hatch marks or numbers....like 8.8, or 11.6 etc?

Hatch marks mean SAE, and a # would be metric.

Make sure to get the right thread pitch too.

yeah I threaded them into the sizing thing at home depot and it seemed to fit nicely in the 5/16 coarse thread and one of the metrics(dont remember off hand).........anyone else know?

also do you recommend using a gasket on the diff or is rtv adaquate?

Put a washer on the bolt, then it will not be to long. rtv.

thought of the washers, its what I may end up doing but its close to a 1/4 inch difference so I may still go get some bolts. rtv it is.

yeah the bolts are from a trickflow aluminum cover that was actually a little thicker (but not even close to as strong as) the new armored one I got. Its meant to bounce off rocks, hell you could probably support the whole truck on the damn thing. thanks copykat
