8.8 carrier question.

hi. my truck has the 8.8 open 4.10. friend of mine had a parts mustang ( 95 gt) laying around, on its roof more convieniently. so i grabbed the carrier out of it. 2 questions. i heard someone say once that the carriers were a different size profile what have you because the mustangs ran a 2.73 that year. i cant verify this so i was hoping someone here could. second question. abs tone ring. the mustang ran a sensor at each wheel so the carrier doesnt have the tone ring like the truck does. do these swap over? if not no big deal i dont have any money in it really. i need to do axle seals eventually and a pinion seal so i was just gonna throw the trac loc in while i was in there.

any help would be great

Why do you want the carrier if you want to put a posi in it anyway?

AFAIK there is no carrier break on the 8.8". Don't know about the tone ring.

because my factory chicken legger will be replaced with the muskrat limited slip? i dont follow.

It should be fine. Just swap your ring gear over and take the tone ring with it when you do.

The way you wrote the post it sounded like the mustang had an open carrier.

nope, sorry for the confusion. id assume the tone ring is heated and pressed onto the carrier. i have a new set of clutches for the l\s. i wasnt going to bother if it didnt work period. thanks for the info fellas
