I just got a Dana 35 and an 8.8 out of a 94 explorer. Bought em from some guy from BII.org(OLD MULE was his name)Both seem to be in real good shape. Hell they are clean and powdercoated even.

The Dana 35 is all new, including 4.56 gears. He also said something about needing new steering knuckles as this one may have been modified for the superlift steering linkage. (I may wanna run that on my truck once I get it lifted) But I dont know what lift kit I have. Pics to come real soon.... I get some pics on of the axle too and maybe someone can tell me what Ive got to do to get this on my pickup.

The 8.8 he said has no carrier or gears. And the spring perches have already been cut off. Where should I look for a carrier and gears(4.56 to match the front) Its going to be a DD and trail banger so was kind of leaning toward a limited slip??? Should I get a shop to do the diff and then put the axle on myself?

I don't know what would have been modified for the StuperLift steering. It used regular Ranger tierod ends. Should bolt right up and run. Just compare them to your old knuckles.

Now would be a really excellent time to add a locker to the 8.8. The stock carrier is the weak link in those axles so a locker that replaced the carrier, like a Detroit, OX or an ARB would be much stronger. Just something to consider. Limited slip is OK for the street and "better than nothing" on the dirt but a locker is far superior. You are not going to find stok 4.56 gears. They are aftermarket. You can probably find a stock carrier but it might be expensive. Look on evilbay for 8.8 parts. Yes, if you have to ask, have a shop do the gears and install the axle yourself. If you are welding on new spring perches, make sure your pinion angle is right.
