8.8 31 spline in a 8.8 axle housing

so im doing gears and i mights as well do a locker to so i was wondering if 31 spine axle shafts will fit in my 28 axle housing. this may be a dumb Question but the 28 housing looks smaller than the 31.

the axleshaft diameter's and lengths are different in each

the only thing from a 28 spline that will fit in a 31 spline is everything in the diff housing

If you get custom made shafts from a place like Moser, you can convert your axle to 31 spline that way. But like said, stock shafts from say, an Explorer or FX4 axle will not fit.
