8.8 31 spline axle destroyed need guidince and info

i already have 31 spline axles i have the fx4 level II it came with 8.8 4.10 gears torson lok l/s and 31 spline. so if i went to a expo its the same exact as mine now but with disc brakes. now can my torson lok l/s go into the expo 8.8?

oh, well if you already had a 31 spline, i suppose it could it could work. with a welder and a grinder you can attach almost any piece of metal to another. i just dont know what size tubes a FW has. still way too much work though

FW has 3.25 axle tubes as well. Hell, so does a Dana 60 FF though.

Not ANY. 96+..SOME 95s, but I'd stick with 96+

find me one :P and this is y i asked on TRS the best ranger forum cuz the tech on here. on the others i would get laughed at for my rear blowing up. thanks guys

there's an ex 8.8 4.10 lsd disc brake in my local jy.. could get the entire rear axle for $100 if you come to memphis. :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

i stand corrected. i was thinking the one out at my buddy's house was a older body style. i just looked at the pics he sent agin on my phone and its the newer style.

ok now my next question. what year expo am i looking for?

IIRC like 95-99..something like that. Earlier ones had drum brakes.

I'd find a expo 8.8 with the correct gears and discs and an open carrier (if it has a l/s trak lok no big deal, just that the drop in lockers are slightly more expensive)....burn new perches and shock mounts on....then sell your old gears and torsen to recoup your expenses. Weld the tubes to the housing while you are at it.

Later put a Aussie in it, or a Powertrax Lock-Rite/No-Slip and call it good.

This way you don't have to have your gears re-set up if you transfer the torsen over.

if i could give this man more rep points i would but it wont let me lmfao.

1. Find a new mechanic.
2. 95-01 explorers and explorer sports have 31 Spline 8.8s with discs.
3. ALL explorer sport tracs are drum brake 31 spline (i have one, and replaced it already)
Most 4x4 ex's were l/s, so look for those. The 4.10 8.8's were easier to find in the sports...

SVT

i called and the only ones they have are 373 or 307 gears and from 350 to 450 bucks

Car-part.com is your friend.

You know better where you are but I did a quick search on there using what I assume is your zip code (found it on google). There were a bunch of 4.10 Explorer axles listed within 100 miles of you, most of them were under 300. I want to say a few of those had LS listed, but they aren't the best about listing all the details so more of them may have had it. They give contact info for the yard right there by the listing, makes it easy to call or email and check.

brinker was so bored at work he has been calling around my area lmfao he found one for 150 with 3.73's. what did u use to search on google?
