i had a few questions about a 79 high pinion 44 out of an f150. do you have to move the wedges on the axle to use that axle and radius arms in a first gen ranger? i ask this question because the coils rest on top of the wedges if im not mistaken. also is it wise to use f150 upper coil buckets on the frame? thanks so much for any information anybody can offer.

you can use the f150 coil buckets they will work better anyway. as for the lower coil mounts you will have to move them in on the axle. eather the cs or just make new mounts for the buckets

The coil mounts for that radius arm setup are as you said right above the wedgie mounts on the axle and bolt to the radius arm itself. There are going to be issues however depending what your looking to do. If you want to run that axle full width ie 65.5" wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, then yes I would recommend moving the wedgies, but then you reach a problem. The wedgies and the inner C mount for the steering knuckle are a single cast piece on that axle and the wedgies cannot be cut off and moved. However this axle can be narrowed fairly easily.. (see the tech page) narrowing it would be my recommended way of doing it. that way you move the wedgies and get the axle to a width that will come close to matching the back. I also agree with the F-150 upper coil buckets because you get a wider range of spring options to run and if you use the upper shock mount of the F-150 it will allow you to run a longer shock which will in the end give you better flex

there are welded wedges and the 3 piece axle tube ones you dont wand one of those anyway they are weaker.
