having problem with my 79 302 i have to go in my 84 ranger, i need to change the oil pan from front sump to rear sump or dual sump with a dip stick in the pan, any one got any help with a model or year they came with that will fit the 79 block thanks

thanks for the help but that suppose only for the 1983 -2001 blocks and not for the 79 blocks, not sure why they wont fit does any one know what the difference is

Thats designed for the dipstick in the block, not the pan. the pan should fit, but the dipstick wont.

I saw someone on here graft a dipstick onto their oil pan. That's always a possibility.

If the one listed does not have the dipstick in the side, search rockauto. Not sure I can link to a search there. Spectra and Dorman make the pan you want, They are $70-$80.

The pans fit any block, the only difference is where you want or need the dipstick.

Nope, link doesn't work.

Shane, the only issue there is the rear sump location. The dipstick would be sitting in the smaller front section of the pan.

Copied from Rockauto. Napa carries them also as well as other. Got one laying around never used, have no use for. If you were close??????

I ordered the ford racing 302 dual sump conversion pan, same one teddyzee linked. Came with pickup dipstick everything and it fit.my 79 block no problem. Dipstick went through the hole on passenger side of timing cover and into the pan.

Sure enough, went and took a look. You can see the opening for the stick. Price is just a little bit high.
