I have a 96 3.0L RWD; I recently did a gear oil drain and fill. I used 75W140 Valvoline. Any issues using that over the lighter oils? Thanks!

Not really. Was it regular oil or full synthetic? Regular oil will be thick when cold (I pumped regular 75-140 into my F-150 in the cold once, gives the arms a workout).

I put that in my F-150 over the normal oil because I used the truck for hauling and snow plow work. I put 75-140 synthetic in my green Ranger because it seemed like a good idea. Mom’s 02 Explorer actually says on the rear diff cover 75-140 synthetic only.

80w90 isn't "thinner" than 75w140, multi viscosity oils aren't really "multi", they're just more temperature stabile. 75w140 doesn't get thicker than 75 weight when cold or thinner than 140 when hot. Synthetic oils lubricate better, you made an improvement.
