7500 mile oil change?

Hey guys, picked up an '08 F-150 (with the 5.4 ) Both the dealer and the manual claim I don't need to change my oil until every 7,500 miles. I have a little over 3k on her now since late August. Is this true?

depending on what oil is in there it could be true. I change my oil every like 5 months right now. Everytime I drain it its about the point were its turning really dark and starting to turn sour.
