7.5L_STX: SAS, Big Block Swap

maybe pm gwaii he was helpfull when i was making my fan shroud

i left him a "hint" to stop in this thread in the GT-12 Thread.

i hadn't seen any activity on your thread in a while, thought you were waiting for summer like me:D

going with the flanges and building your own is a good idea.like you said,i made the gt ones way more complicated than they need to be.yours can be much more straight forward, but you still need to take your time with the fit-up or they'll look like crap, and yours will be way more visible than mine.

use 2'' primaries,and a 3 1/2'' collector.460s like an open exhaust.

thats good to know, see even that little bit of info helped. i would have been searching for awhile just to figure out what size primaries to use. thanks.

since you have experience with both 460s and rangers, do you think ill be able to make the exhaust work inside the frame? even though fenderwell headers would look BADASS, but im not sure if i want my exhaust (that will eventually be rusty) exposed on the outside of the frame.

i think you'll have to go outside....it's tight inside even with a smallblock,i really don't see it happenning with a big block.

another point that will make a difference to the durability is to use aluminized j-bends.there are plain steel ones available too, having the aluminized makes a big difference.i usually use dynomax, they're reasonable price and decent quality.

So did you have to move your coil buckets out to match the width of the axle mounts?

ive been thinkin about what im gonna do for exhaust. im thinkin thaat im going to buy the header flanges off ebay and build my own, theyll most likely have to be pointed out and into the fenderwell then down the frame.
Here's the kit I plan to use. It was referred to me by a couple guys who used it and they were both happy with it. They just needed to buy 1 J bend if I remember correctly. Clicky ---> http://www.speedwaymotors.com/429-460-B-B-Ford-Header-Kit,37279.html

nope, this is what i did:

The only thing i did to my coil bucket was cut off the shock hoop to make new shock mounts.

Awesome. Thats very helpful, thanks!

Or if you could do your headers straight out the hood and just look super ****in bad ass:shok:

x2 it'd be sick but isnt any good for a truck thast your going to spend any time in. as in longer then 1 or 2 runs thru a pit. i have to get a muffler back on mine. trail riding all day then trying to have a conversation doesnt work cause your deaf

yah that would look sweet lol but that makes driving it on public roads not possible, so i think im gonna buy the kit that was linked a few posts up and build some sick nasty long tube fenderwell headers.

:icon_idea: do it like the old hot rodders did with the capped headers. when you come off the hedder flange have a 180 degree splitter on each tube off one side go out the regular way to the exhaust and mufflers. but on the other side go straight up through the hood and out. then just cap each pipe when you dont want to be obnoxious and bad ass

EDIT: this is how i mean
