I've done some searching and still don't feel I have the answer I need so here goes I have an 88 b2 with stock axles and transfer case I'm swapping in a 302 so I want bigger axles and drive shafts it has a 3in body lift and soon will have a 4in suspension lift I would like an 8.8 from a 95 or newer explorer how new can I go and what has to be done with the driveshafts if I'm going to go with that axle and do I use the drive shafts from the same explorer thank you

The holes to mount the rear end of the shaft to the axle are 2.5" apart on the 7.5 and 3" apart on the 8.8. Now you can put your shaft up there and drill new holes which is what I did. Or you can take it to a driveline shop and have them fit it with the correct adapter.
