I've got a 99 ranger with the 7.5 I'm wanting to swap in a 8.8 from a newer ranger with disc brakes. Reason for the swap is that I'm going to put an air locker in the rear. I'm looking at an 8.8 from a 10' ranger with disc brakes. What all would I need to make the rear brakes functional. Or would I be better off to get an 8.8 from a ranger with drums?

Those lockers are sweet, you won't regret it.

I used the 10" drums on my 8.8 swap (which I did for the same reasons as you.), I can feel he ABS kicking on them all the time on hard stops. Sure disks are easier to change, but the drums work perfectly fine.
