haven't found the answer in the forums or the library, but when i go to Randy's Ring & Pinion, they list the Lockright locker for 4.10 gears and down.
only the Detroit locker is listed for 4.56 and down gears.
so, the Lockright won't work with my 4.56's? sure hate to have to spend close to $500 for a Detroit when a $300 Lockright would satisfy my needs just fine.

7.5s with 3.73 and numerically higher need a notched crosspin because of the ring gear thickness. A notched crosspin will not work with the lock-right. The best and easiest way around this is to clearence the ring gear tooth in the way, it does not affect the gear strength and allows the use of a much stronger full crosspin.

hmmm... maybe i should just look for a good used detroit then. i'm not a mechanic and i'd probably be getting a stronger locker anyway. thanks for the info, it is much appreciated!
There really isn't much involved in clearencing the ring gear, it's certainly easier than setting the backlash when installing a detroit.

I did however grenade my crosspin when I ran a 7.5 with a lock-right, 4.10s, 4.0 and 33s. The detroit will be stronger but then you're risking taking out the gears, especially with 4.56s. You may want to just look into an 8.8 swap.

i'm currently running 3.45's and the largest tire i'll be running would be about 31". i have the 4.56's already and the larger front carrier for the d28. planning on swapping everything out in the spring which gives me time to sort out the rear locker question. i've had Lockrights in other 4x4's and don't mind the clicking in the tight turns so much. but if i could get really lucky and find a really good deal on a Detroit or a Tru-trac to go with the new gears, that would be sweet for sure!

does anyone make a locker for the stock 3.45 gears in a 7.5? cause im looking into puttin a locker in, im running 30's and am happy with the gear ratio performance so i don't really want to cahnge gears
