Those of you out there with a locker in your 7.5, are you having any issues? I want a locker and am deciding whether I want an 8.8 too. I do not do anything Hardcore, but I am off road a lot and the open diff is a pain. I have a 98 Regular Cab with a 3.0 and 3.73 gears with 31 BFGs for shoes. Just looking for an opinion.

You're best bet may be a lunchbox type locker in the 7.5. Do the 8.8 swap when you break the 7.5 :)

I have a re-packed L/S in my 7.5 with very little friction modifier, and it works great.

Only running 31x11.5 LTB's

I have a lock-right in mine and love it. Although I've only had mine 2 months, I'm sure the 7.5 would hold with no hardcore wheeling. I've beat on mine since i put it in with no break'age. I'm running 31" m/ts like you with 3.73's and if you dont plan on going to enormous tires you will be fine.

I love my lock-right in my 7.5. They actually make them a bit stronger because the spider gears are a weak point for the 7.5. I've had it for about 10ish months. And it was previously owned by Todd, so who knows what kind of abuse it took before I got it :icon_rofl:

Todd beat on his 7.5 pretty good with 33s and a Lockrite, and never broke anything. Once you go up to 35's you need an 8.8 tho.

no issues with the locker whatsoever. Im buying another 7.5 to replace the one i have now because the ring&pinion are bad as well as all of the bearings but that was a known issue before the locker went in. the locker is getting carried over to the new axle.
