I am swapping an 8.8 28 spline into my ranger that has the 7.5. First off, are the axle tubes the same diameter? Second, I have new 9" brakes on my 7.5. Can I swap back plates to put those on the 8.8? I don't want to buy more brake crap, thats why I am voting against the 10" brakes. Thanks!

sure the brakes will work, if you are wanting to do that, save yourself some bleeding work and pull the shafts out of the axles and pull the back plates off with the lines attached then drop the stock axle and swap in the new axle and reverse the process... that's what I did the first time I swapped axles under mine...

Yeah the tubes are the same size.

I like that idea. Know an tricks on how to get c-clips off?

C clips are easy, pull out the cross pin (5/16" wrench and a torch to break the loctite for the retaining bolt) then push the axles in about 1/4" and the clips literally fall out...

They are the same
