Had this idea for a while now just wondering if it would work.

fullsize rear axle with std. front axle.

I'm thinking that it would handle similar to a duallie.

What do you do pull or load in a Ranger with a 3.0 that would require a beefy rear?

You'd run into the issues of fenders vs tires.

You'd run into issues of mis matched wheel bolt patterns and having to buy adaptors or carry two spares.

Depending on the drive shaft U joint size, a conversion u joint may not be available with out having to change out the drive shaft yoke to accept something bigger.

A srw 14 bolt FF, bulge bed sides, and wheels with the perfect offset and backspacing to keep them with in the fenders, would be pretty sick.

But do you really need to?

itl never work

It's been done and it did work. Todd had the stock d35 TTB front axle with d44 outers on it with a full width 8.8 rear on his B2.

It'll never work?

I beg to differ.

Plenty of us are runnin full width axles under our 4x4s. It's easily doable cause of the lift.

The Corporate 14bolt comes in 62" and 67" widths (WMS to WMS)
The Ranger 8.8" is some where around 60" (WMS to WMS)

Let's do some math. A 2" or 7" difference. That's 1" wider on each side or 3.5" wider on each side.

FiberwerX makes 6" bulge bed sides for Rangers.

With wheels with the same offset and back spacing as the rangers run and the same width of tires, it's still going to be a 2" or 7" difference (total width) Even less depending on the wheel.

A 14 bolt can totally be shoved in a Ranger with tires in the fenders.

I think you guys missed the sarcasm in his post.

With a wider rear axle and narrow front your turning radius will go to shit.

I take sarcasm as a challenge.

You want to improve your turning radius? Beat the shit out of your tie rod ends with a BFH. The slop helps with bump steer too.

What I was thinking was:
take stock 4x4 Ranger put a (older gen) jeep front axle infront and 9" in rear
install front frender flares and cutout box fenders weld on stepside flares
steering-install a 60 degree turning radius kit
engine-4bt (twin turbo) teamed with F250 std trans & chev 205 transfercase(for lower gearing without doulbler)

For what i want to haul is a Camper, boat motor trailer, construction material...basically using it as a truck and for fun

i think it is a good idea but costly.... its either that or get a 1/2 to 3/4 truck and swap in the 4bt with lift and tires

?????????

say that 1 inch over each side would look great with my 2.5 inch over kit
