67 ford 3/4 ton 4x4 resto mod

I do want stock rims. The tire size is 8x16.5 you only have a choice now of denman street tires or military NDT's. I think i'll pick the military's tires. Here's a question for any ford guru in here. What does it mean if my truck has no paint code on the vin plate on the door? I haven't forgotten about sending you the pics either man just havent had a moment to do it. also pony carbs had redisned the autolite 1100 on these truck to have a good emulsifier tube and have annular dishcharge, and it's a new carb. I'm getting one

the stock rims were most likely split rims.......i heard bad stories about em and also most tire places REFUSE to touch em. just use what u got or put on some nice alloys.

Not that I can find, they are not split rims. They are solid stamped and welded wheels. You sure can't see the split ring in any brochure or anything else of a 67-72. Also if they are I will deal with them as I am a master tech and have had to do them before but I will have to source new plit rings, as I won't deal with used ones.

maybe im thinking of the 66 f250 i was gonna buy.....prolly should of....but then i wouldnt have gotten my 88 stx and noone here would know me.

Know a 66 I have no idea on, but all the brochures and advertisements I have looked at they look like stamped & welded wheels. The only dangerous thing about split rings is; 1 if the ring is very rusted at all replace it ( make sure visually the replacement is the same as original, 2 make sure it is seated properly, and 3 ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use a extended 6 ft or better long air chuck and seat the beads in a cage made for tires.

ok, ill keep that in mind if i ever mess with one.

hehe its better if you dont but a lot of older large trucks still have them and run 'em cause a conversion is sooo expensive. hubs/ studs/ wheels/ tires/ soetimes rotors and calipers have to be changed too. sorry about my grammar/ spelling am very tired but cant sleep.:icon_surprised:

Thanks for the photographs. It looks as though you have a lot of work ahead of you. That truck has been demilled quite a bit. Loacting original military related parts will be a challenge.

Well, I found out originally it was not ordered by the military, but somehow they ended up with it. No paint codes aparantly it was ordered with a non standard color. I think my air cleaner fell through, as it is not an oil bath and oil baths were used until '72. I dunno who votes all original or resto mod give me a vote...:icon_welder:

I doubt there split rims on a 67.

later,
Dustin

From all my research it does not have split ring rims. They are regular rims. Still hunting for the correct oil bath air cleaner though dangit....

Resto mod.
My Buddy's 64 High Boy is on 38" tires with a 351m displacing 424, a C6, Closed D44, D60, NP24 tcase. It's a great solid truck, with plenty of power, has a really stout setup and yet has stayed looking mostly original.
