My dad has a 65 Mustang GT Convt 289 AT AC PS,its dark blue with a white top and white Pony interior and has the rally pac gauges. It has the Shelby type rallys and even the original set of redline tires with it. It's in great shape, looks to have been restored. It had two previous owners, one of whom put the Cobra valve covers, air cleaner and 4 bbl intake w/Holley. Any ideas what its worth? I'm going over today to help get it cleaned up,I'll try to post some pics and more info. I'm gonna help him sell it....:(

I'm guessing since they put a 4bbl intake on that it's a C code.

Depending on how nice it is I'd say from 15,000 to 23,000.

Or, they replaced the boat anchor cast iron 4bbl intake, with an aluminum intake?

I'm pretty sure it's an A code 289. If it's an original GT, I highly doubt it was a 2bbl, or even the hipo k code 289. If it's very nice, no rot and no bondo, but not a museum piece either, you could do close to 20+. Right now, though, the prices are way down because the economy is so bad.

Ok....I have the pics on my desktop....how do I post them here? I don't have a camera only the one on my phone so I send them to Snapfish.com then download them from there to my computer. If I send them from the phone by email to my comp they look crappy. Thanks. If anyone wants to see the pics I have them posted on Facebook,I'm Garry Patterson in Farmland IN. I really doubt its a "K" code, didn't they have a solid lifter cam? I did find out today that it has 78,000 mi.

I'm on FB....really I am lol. Sno did you type Garry or Gary?,my name has 2 R's.

Down here in Florida they don't go for more then 12-15K in very mint shape. If it ain't a Shelby..... it ain't nothing to the Ford vintage freaks. We went to several vintage meets this year and the GT's just are not bringing much money. Man...a super nice Shelby went for almost 70k in Febuary....man that was a nice ride!!!!

If it's a real GT it has to have the "A" code 289 4V or the "K" code hipo 289. However, if it has a "K" code engine it couldn't have power steering or an automatic. If it's a "C" code 289 it's not a real GT. Check your VIN.

Neighbor just sold his A code convertible for $37,000. That car was mint, though.

A true GT will have a 4 BBL motor as describe above.

Get a professional assessment and appraisal if you want top dollar.

Also get a A Marti Report it will cost but help authenicate your GT as a real GT
