I'm plannin on swapping in some 63 in leafs. I've read plenty on here, learned a lot. I just want to be absolutely certain, or atleast as certain as possible on what I need to do the swap and maintain my current ride height. I'm guessin I have around 9 inches of lift with 35s, and already have belltech 6400 shackles. My goal is to eliminate the lift blocks if possible and gain a better ride and more flex. The biggest reason I don't wanna mess around with the trial and error method is because I am military and stationed in Germany and it takes weeks to get parts in the mail. So I'd like to get it right on the first try.

Thanks!

Forget the 63's, just link it already! Lol
To do this, remove the front hanger, bolt up the lower rear hanger hole to the forward frame hole, moving the hanger forward about 6". Drill the remaining holes and everything else bolts up...

I'll link it if you front the cash! Lol

I understand how to do it, seems pretty straight forward, I mainly need info on how what configuration I need to keep the truck level. I'd like to get rid of the blocks completely.

If you flip the rear hanger, you gain 0" in lift, but gain a large amount of flex. If you dont flip the rear hanger, you'll gain about 3" of lift, with the stock shackle (results vary slightly). So you can do the swap, remove the block and gain about an inch...

And what about with belltech 6400 shackles?

I have 8-9 inches of lift now, so I think the shackle reversal is outta the question. Although all that flex would be nice.

I plan to use a drop hanger in place of the rear Oem hanger with a 1-1/2" drop to lift the rear end on my truck roughly 1-1/2". Linky --> http://www.kartek.com/Product/1209/Drop-Shackle-Mounts.aspx
I think the most common thing to accomplish the lift you want is re-arched springs (that can be a HOT debate..) or new springs from a lift kit company.

How are you lifted in the back right now?

I'm not entirely sure. 3 inch block, but not sure of what springs. How it was when I bought the truck. I have since installed belltech 6400 shackles

It'll be hard to judge without knowing if you got stock springs. I'd do the swap, leaving out the 3" block. Theoretically, it should keep you at the same height you're at now...

Ok so with that being said, that kartek drop hanger reverses the shackle. So a belltech 6400 would bring it back down. So with that combo is there a spring that would be fairly soft and still give me the ride height I'm looking for? That seems like it would be a sweet setup if so.

I think they might be lift springs but not sure. How much lift will belltech 6400 shackles and 63s net me, roughly. Without lift blocks?

Yes using this hanger it would be the "flipped shackle" set up with the belltech 6400. This would normally result in no lift, but with these hangers it lowers the rear leaf spring mounting position 1.5", resulting in the lift. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Ps- I got my 6400s today! Amazon $50 to my door! :D

Ok, that'd be sweet, but 1.5 inches is not enough to keep my truck level, I need more than that for sure.

That's not to shabby, I think I got mine for 60 from the parts house

I realize that 1.5" isnt enough thats why in my previous post I mentioned getting the 64" springs re-arched or to use lift kit manufactures chevy leaf springs as an addition to the 1.5", this way you can flip the hangers and achieve the improved articulation while remaining at you current ride height :icon_thumby:
