Has anyone here done the 60/40 bench seat to buckets? Do you like it?/hate it? Maybe you built a console in your new found space. Did you leave the new gap empty and perhaps keep the arm rest? I'm just trying to find out if anyone else thinks it was worth it. More importantly, concerned about it changing driver comfort. Thanks for any input.

I hated the 60/40 split bench. I had a 94 explorer that I used the seats and console other than the color not matching the rest of the truck its a light blue rather than dark blue. l I don't have any regrets doung it.

Did the 60/40 conversion and love it , very comfortable

. Added an Explorer short console. Works very well.

I have swapped both my Ranger and my BII from split bench to buckets. In the Ranger I used the factory seats and console from a 91 Explorer and I love it. In the BII I found the factory 1st gen buckets and console and my only regret is the loss of the arm rest. I tried some 95 Explorer seats in there for a while, but they didn't fit well. The passenger seat didn't go up far enough to easily access the back seat and the driver's seat had to be at a very uncomfortable angle to fold down the rear seats.

Nice work kck, looks good. I really like the idea of the centre console. Brentmc, adsm08, do either of you guys have a manual trans? Just wondering if say, a coffee cup is in the cup holder, does the shifter hit it at all when shifting to second or fourth?

I have a stick, and yes, anything much taller than a soda can is in the way in 4th gear.

Well, went for it. Pulled the drivers seat, cut off the middle seat and frame. Made a quick box with cup holders. Perfect size to hold my travel mug and a another space to hold more useless crap. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Overall project time was just over an hour.

That looks pretty good for only spending an hour on it.

Thanks. Taking the seat out and making it a bucket was a breeze. Excess seat fabric is held down with a bit of tie wire. I didn't bolt down the box, just made the fit between the seats tight.
