Hey, I know these trans aren't really preferred for 4x4ing but at this point i'd just like to get the truck running without more fabrication than i've already got in the works. That said I've got a buddy parting out a 98 explorer with the 4x4 5r55e trans. I've already got a manual bw1354 t-case (that i was going to use for a doubler eventually) and drive shafts. Does anyone know if this is a direct replacement for my 2wd 5r55e trans?

anyone? is a 98 explorer 4x4 5r55e a drop in replacement into a 2001 mazda b4000 4x2 5r55e?

Is your engine the same? If so, the bell housing bolt pattern will be the same. I can't speak to the computer but I would assume it's the same.
