Hey Guys,
I'm looking to replace the trans in my girlfriends ranger.

2002
3.0L
2WD

It seems like there are two different ID #'s for the 5r44e trans.
The 1L5P-AA and the 2L5P-AB, I've gotten some conflicting information on which one will work in her truck. (I'll look and see what her's is tonight)

-one guy says that the AB will work for either
-one guy says that the electrical connection is different (therefore not interchangeable)

I searched around on the forum and with google but could'nt come up with any definitive differences.

Can someone tell me the difference between the two and if either are interchangeable?

Thanks!

look it up

fordparts.com, put in her vin then look up transmission-transaxle automatic, subcategory transmission assembly. it will say it in there. they put a 7000 in the middle, it will look like

3.0L 182 CID 6 Cylinders - RWD; engineering number: 2L5P-7000-AB
