500,000

Just reached 500,000 miles on my 1991 Ford Ranger this morning.

Same engine, same transmission. I did have to replace a cracked head a couple years ago, but other than that, thats about it.

you really should send that to ford actually. there was an article in their last little magazine about a guy who's truck was just about to reach 500k. it was at like 464k i think. Its a 2.9 i assume?

its not hard at all to take care of cars. People just don't do it.

Luckily my dad was a mechanic and taught me what i know today

Basically, just change the oil regularly. Thats my only secret, which should not be any secret.

Here's to the next 500k! Unless my wife gets her wish. She just keeps asking me, "When are you going to get a new truck!?" I just tell her, "when I need one."

haha i agree. My girlfriend is pushing me to buy a new truck and i tell her that every time mine starts up it is just telling me that it has another day left in it. Of course i have got a while...i only have about half the miles you got.

you running? Do you use any fancy synthetic oil? To bad it's not a 6-digit odometer, it would be nice to see that number reading on the odometer.

yeah wish i had the full readout on the odometer too.

its a 4.0 liter V6

no fancy synthetic oil. I use Quakerstate 10-40 and have been sticking with that one.
