Hi all,
I've been getting different info from various sources. I have a '94 Ranger with 14" rims. I'm looking to upgrade to the P71 16" (police rims) from a Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis etc. I would settle for a set of stock black steel 16" wheels, But are they all the same?

I recall Mopar and Ford rims being the same for a long time too, but I hear Mopar changed their bolt patterns also.

What years fit? Some are metric, different hub holes etc...
Junkyard says new, old all the same. Tire place says there is a difference, Ebay seller says there is a difference, Craigslist seller says no difference. :shok:

Well, please let me know if there is a difference.
Also are the backsets the same?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

The center hole of the wheel off of the Crown Vic is going to be too small to go over the Ranger hub. I tried to put wheels from my '87 Grand Marquis onto my '93 Ranger and it was a no go. I am pretty certain the Panther platform kept the 5x4.5 pattern to the end. I don't think the hub diameter changed but I could be wrong.

Edit: Now that I think about it I think I had trouble putting the Ranger wheels on the Grand Marquis. It was four or five years ago so my memory is a little fuzzy. I am still pretty sure that the bolt pattern stayed the same, though.

Tinman, you got it correct with your edit. :) Ranger rims have 2.5" center hole, Crown Vic (Marquis) have 2.76" center hole.

So, Crown Vic rims would install on '94 Ranger, but they would no longer be hub centric.

If you understand the risk/get hub spacers, you're fine.

Well both vehicles use coned lug, making the wheel lug-centric, making the hub-centric issue a non-issue.

As long as you get mid 90's up and up they will be fine. I ran 2003 Vic rims on my 93 for a year or two.

Yes, I am familiar with hub centric vs lug centric rims
Thanks Again,
Bob

A while back I ran a set of Crown Vic/Lincoln Towncar rims on my Ranger

As I recall even the center caps worked with the lockout hubs once the center medallion was removed...

As for the rims being lug-centric versus Hub-centric, ford plays this loosely themselves.

Ever check the hub to wheel fit on the rear axle of a 4x4?
