was messing around on google and happened across this:

i guess it doesnt surprise me that someone did it, i just never knew such a thing was in production until just now. after doing some reading up, it looks like a bunch of the jap. companies, volkwagen, and a few others have all produced 5 valve engines at some point. i guess there are even a few 6 and 8 valve engines floating around...like hondas 8 valve engine they use in one of their bikes:

anyway, just thought it was interesting.

Yeah I think either or both Ferrari and Lamborghini have made 5 valve engines.

i dont think they all do...but it seems that some of their bikes and even a few quads do...

Yea Ive know some of the Yamaha Quads and Bikes have had the 5 Valve setup for a few years now, My buddy Just bought a WR 250 Super Moto Bike and now I'm wondering if it has it or not.

That Honda 8 valve is kinda cool though, Ive though about something like that before, I was looking at a 4.6 block and just imagined 1 big long oval piston for each bank.

I still like Ford's 3 Valve better, simpler and cheaper to produce and can make a whole lot of power.

yeah my brother swapped a 91 20 valve 4AGE into his 86 corrolla. that car comes alive after 9 grand.

can you imagine how unbalanced that would be with that large of a piston moving up and down...and only 2 of them? there would be almost no bottom end power, and it would shake itself apart if you tried to rev it.

i wouldnt say the 3 valve makes a "whole lot" of power....but it IS a nice balance between 4 valve revs and 2 valve torque.

I was watching the powerblock today and they were building up a 4.6 they had sleeved and bored to a 5.0. Stock block, stock crank, and stock CNC ported heads. I missed the dyno test though.

the 2 valve mod motors are soo much easier to remove spark plugs from though! (just never mind they have a habit of blowing one out of the threads from time to time)

just out of curiosity how many valves (not to jack or nuthin) does a honda TRX300EX have??
